Prescott Child of the Week: Oliver

Oliver---webTime is valuable, but it can be priceless when a little of that time is spent mentoring a child. Luckily, giving the smallest portion of your time towards a Little Brother or Little Sister child can make an everlasting impact…

Meet Oliver, an intelligent 11 year old that loves science and has a great sense of humor. Oliver lives with his single mother. Oliver’s father travels extensively for his employer, only allowing Oliver to see him every couple of months. Oliver needs a consistent Big Brother who can engage in conversations with him as well as encourage his imagination.

Oliver enjoys building robots and inventing things from his imagination. He also enjoys taking about and rebuilding computers. It is easy to see why science is his favorite subject and he would like to become a scientist when he grows up. Oliver has other goals for himself, such as to become a diver one day. He has been practicing skills to achieve this goal. Oliver is a polite, friendly child who needs someone who will help him explore his surroundings.

All it takes is 8 hours a month to make a massive difference on a child’s life. The impact you make on a child as a Big often times transfers over into their adult lives. Watching a child evolve into a caring and successful adult and helping others can be the ultimate reward.
