PV Child of the Week: Allan

Allan-Menchaca-webTime is valuable, but it can be priceless when a little of that time is spent mentoring a child. Luckily, giving the smallest portion of your time towards an at-risk child can make an everlasting impact…

Meet Allan, a soft-spoken 8 year old who finds enjoyment in simple things like reading books about sharks, socializing with peers, and coloring. Allan never really got to know his father, and could truly benefit from a positive male role model in his life. Allan’s past adversity has affected many aspects of his life, but a Big Brother can help guide Allan on a successful path, and help him reach his goal of becoming a Police Officer and protecting others.

Along with reading and coloring, Allan also has a particular interest in music. His favorite activities include watching TV, playing soccer, running, and watching Spongebob Squarepants. He doesn’t like homework, and gets along well with others. Allan can be very motivated when there is something he is really happy about doing, and he likes playing outdoors just as much as playing indoors.

All it takes is 8 hours a month to make a massive difference on a child’s life. The impact you make on a child as a Big often times transfers over into their adult lives. Watching a child evolve into a caring and successful adult and helping others can be the ultimate reward.
