Child of the Week: Amani

AmaniimgTime is valuable, but it can be priceless when a little of that time is spent mentoring a child. Luckily, giving the smallest portion of your time towards a child can make an everlasting impact.
Meet Amani, a thoughtful 7 year old who comes from a large family. Amani lives with his single mother and four brothers. Also in the home is Amani’s grandmother. Amani is the middle child with two older brothers and two younger brothers. He likes to try new things, just needs the opportunities for new experiences. Amani would like to go fishing, bowling, to the movies, or just play outside with his future Big Brother.
Amani does well in school, making good grades. He states PE and recess are his favorite times of the day at school. Amani does well in reading and math. Although shy at first, Amani is excited to have a Big Brother. Amani needs a positive male role model in his life. He will thrive with individual attention and a Big Brother who will introduce him to new activities.
All it takes is 8 hours a month to make a massive difference on a child’s life. The impact you make on a child as a Big often times transfers over into their adult lives.
