Child of the Week: Shelby

Every child needs a Champion. Yavapai Big Brothers Big Sisters knows how powerful our community can be when our kids are not afraid to dream, encouraged to try new opportunities and empowered to think for themselves. Every child deserves a Champion; a mentor who will show up, not give up on them and help them reach their full potential to be the best that they can be.
Meet 7 year old Shelby. Shelby lives with her mother and older sister. Finishing the 1st grade, Shelby is looking forward to spending some time this summer with a Big Sister who likes to swim, hike, do arts and crafts, fish, and rock climbing. Shelby is a friendly girl who loves to talk. She gets in trouble at school for talking too much in class as she is very social. Her mother states Shelby is a good communicator and very verbal. Shelby also likes to shoot hoops and would like to learn how to play tennis.
Ready to be matched with Shelby or another waiting child? Call 778-5135, go to www.azbigs.org, or “Like” us on Facebook for more information. Do you have a couple of hours to spare a couple of times a month? If so, you can change the life of a child. Fundamentally. For the better. Forever.
April is National Volunteer Appreciation month. Yavapai Big Brothers Big Sisters would like to thank all of our Big Brothers and Big Sisters who have changed the lives of over 11,000 Yavapai County community children during the last 43 years… You are OUR Champions!
