Young people from single parent families are 200% more likely to go to jail at some point in their lives. Boys growing up without an active father are 150% more likely to abuse drugs and 80% more likely to join gangs. Girls growing up without an active father are 250% more likely to experience an unwanted pregnancy and 53% more likely to commit suicide.
Research tells us that compared with all other youth thier ages, boys and girls matched with Big Brother, Big Sister or Family Match are 40% less Likely to get arrested.
In addition, compared to their peers, Matched youth are:
- 46% Less likely to start using drugs
- 27% less likely go start drinking
- 52% less likely to skip a day of school.
