Start Something … as a Family
We’re always looking for people who want to positively impact a child and improve their community at the same time. It’s even better if you get the whole family involved! Little Brothers and Little Sisters are often matched with couples and families. It’s a great opportunity to enjoy your family time and still volunteer. And if you have children at home, it’s a wonderful way to introduce them to community service.
For a few hours, a couple times a month, you can give a Little the invaluable gift of your family’s friendship. By simply changing their perspective of what the world can offer, you literally start changing their lives. It's not about raising a child, but including them in family activities, discussions and outings. Whether your family likes to hike, play miniature golf or just hang-out in the backyard together, there is a Little just waiting for you!
Why do we need Couple and Family Matches?
More than 70% of the children waiting for a Big are boys, but only 3 out of every 10 inquiries to volunteer come from men. Couples and Family Matches are a great way for a boy to enjoy family time and get the benefit of a positive male role model. Research shows that having the positive influence of a Family match makes a real difference in a boy's life. So join the other Big Brothers at Yavapai Big Brothers Big Sisters and give one of these young men someone to look up to. You’ll find out why so many of our Bigs are saying, “I get back so much more than I give.”
